Phil Harris and John Lineker are matched again, with the bout finally set to take place in Manchester in October.
Another bout has joined the previously announced matchups of Bisping vs. Munoz and Pearson vs. Guillard for the UFC’s Manchester return, and this time it is the flyweights getting the attention.
Gym 01’s Phil Harris is set to lock horns with John Lineker at UFC in in October, with their originally scheduled bout at UFC 163 falling through due to a Harris injury.
Harris (22-10 MMA, 1-1 UFC) suffered a fractured orbital and was frustrated at having to pull out of the fight in Brazil. Healed up and getting ready to start preparations for late October, he’ll get another home nation bout instead.
In his last outing he defeated Ulysses Gomez via decision back in February. Harris showed more of his standup skills, and got a much needed Octagon win following his debut defeat to Darren Uyenoyama.
Lineker still took part in UFC 163 despite Harris’ withdrawal, and dispatched Jose Maria via TKO in the second round. Lineker came in 3lbs over the allowed weight limit, the second he’s failed to hit the mark in four UFC fights.
The 22-6 Brazilian has won three straight since his UFC debut loss, and has ten knockout finishes on his resume.
Harris will be pleased to get back to action, with that likely concluding his 2013 account with two fights. However, Lineker is a very tough adversary, and it should make for an exciting stylistic battle.
